Carrier 50PEC AQUAZONE Water-Cooled Console Water Source Heat Pump

Carrier 50PEC heat pumpHistorical Overview
Two hundred years ago, heating came from wood, and cooling from opening the windows. Then came coal furnaces, followed by electric fans. Oil furnaces; window unit air conditioners. Baseboard electric heat; central air conditioning. Each step resulted in greater efficiency and sustainability. Currently, the state of the art for heating and cooling is the groundwater heat pump, a brilliant investment for anyone who owns either personal or commercial real estate.

Puron Refrigerant
The AQUAZONE™ 50PEC09-18 Water Source Heat Pump, a state of the art unit, adapts for either groundwater or indoor applications. It has self-contained line voltage thermostats in a single-package console water source heat pump. It uses nonpolluting Puron refrigerant. It will feel good to have a green heating/cooling unit installed in your home.

Special Features
The AQUAZONE has many features, including compressors set on flexible grommets and a heat sensitive shut-off valve, all set in an elegant container. The flexible. left or right piping hook-ups guarantee that your new unit will be easily adapted to whatever space you have. The flow regulators and control valves are factory mounted for easy installation. The WSHP Open controller utilizes the following protocols: BACnet™, Modbus®, N2, and LON (with a separate card). This provides precise unit control and well leveraged energy efficiency.

High Adaptability
Under-window, interior space installations are a breeze for the Carrier AQUAZONE. It is quiet and offers standard cooling energy efficiency ratios up to 13.5 for boiler/tower installations and as high as 21.3 for geothermal use. Coefficients of performance rate as high as 5.1, the highest available. It also comes in four available sizes, to meet all your heating/cooling needs as efficiently as possible.

The Complete C
The standard unit for the Aquazone has a control board that connects to the reversing valve, fan, safety features, the unit compressor, and all troubleshooting features. The Complete C. The Complete C is low cost, user friendly, and highly flexible. It includes a 50 VA transformer, an anti-short cycle timer, and a random start relay. These features assure dependability and safety. Whatever load your unit needs, the Complete C is like a personal robot that monitors the unit, preventing overloads and shut-downs.

Overview of Groundwater Heat pumps
For those who are not familiar with the principles of the Aquazone, it uses the earth itself as a heat sink in the summer and a heat source in the winter. Go deep enough, and the ground maintains a yearlong temperature of about 68 degrees Fahrenheit. These heat pumps have different names, but they all operate according to the same idea. Engineers prefer to call it “geoexchange” or “ground source heat pumps” to differentiate it from geothermal power, When you install such a system, you will not only save money in the long run but be a trailbreaker. It is only a matter of time before geoexchange heating and cooling become standard for all new construction.

Warranties
The total unit comes with a one year warranty, but the compressor is covered for five. There are numerous options for long term service. Pricing varies so widely that you’ll need to talk directly to a provider to get an estimate. However, there is still a 30% government tax credit for people who choose to go geothermal.
